Bed sharing/body heat/ FLOOR IS LAVA meme hybrid
just share the bed!

For whatever reason, the floor is an unacceptable place to sleep. It's messy, the dog is there, THE FLOOR IS LAVA, there's flooding, feels weird, or it's too dirty to walk on. Who cares why it's not acceptable, it just isn't! Normally, that's not an issue, but tonight you have a friend over. Maybe it's the safest place, maybe it's hurricane season and your house is the only one out of the path of the storm. Are they mooching off you? Stop trying to figure out the details! Just get over it and share the bed with that person! Sexy times are not required. Intimacy is not required. Just share the damn bed already.
Do you need options? DO YOU? Here! Have some options!
1. It's late. You're tired. Too tired to drive and THE FLOOR IS LAVA.
2. It's late. You're drunk. Too drunk. Honestly, how did you drink that much and not die? Should we take you to the hospital? Here, just stay in this bed with me. No, you can't sleep on the floor. THE FLOOR IS LAVA.
3. It's early. You thought you'd just come by and visit but you can barely function. The bed seems inviting. Guess what, you're invited into the bed! Yes. The bed. Not the floor. THE FLOOR IS LAVA.
4. DO YOU LIKE TO CUDDLE? CUDDLING IS OKAY. And yes, the floor is lava.
5. WILDCARD. Just figure out a reason why you need to share the bed. But don't forget: the floor is lava!
6. The Crack Fun Insane Option - Actually play the Floor is Lava Game!! Move about the room without touching the floor... because the floor is seriously lava.
BONUS OPTIONS:
BODY HEAT:
1. It's freezing. There's only one blanket. It's a cliche, but body heat helps!! MAYBE THE FLOOR IS LAVA. There might be a bed, might be a cave, might be a cabin. I am writing this on questionable amounts of sleep and too much caffeine, but you know the drill.
BAD LUCK:
2. Maybe the floor is not lava, but in fact something else. Maybe a pipe burst in your apartment and now you're seeking refuge in the only high ground you have while waiting for aid. OR MAYBE THE PIPES ARE SPEWING LAVA. Maybe the floor is snakes.
Really just choose what fluff you want I am not going to report you to the meme police

Or maybe he just collapsed exhaustedly into the wrong bed. Or maybe they're stuck somewhere and it's freezing, and there's only one blanket. There's so many possibilities.]

It probably isn't his bed.]

The problem is, it isn't Yasusada's bed. He'd made his way to bed rather late, a late running mission and report to the Saniwa leading to a very, very exhausted Yasu climbing into what he thought was his bed, mostly asleep before he'd even put on his sleep clothes. Something did manage to register as off, the bed rather lumpy on one side, but he just snuggled into it like a pillow and dozed off before he could even figure out why.
Which leads to this situation. Yasu cling to Kashuu like a favorite security blanket, snoring gently against his shoulder, one elbow digging into his stomach uncomfortably from where his arm is thrown over his partner.]
no subject
Really, Yasusada's lucky that even while he's sleepy (or, in this case, actually asleep) Kashuu's aware enough to be able to tell when someone is completely foreign to the room, and when it's just Yasusada. Really, Yasusada's lucky.
Kashuu really wishes he was less able to tune Yasusada out as being a potential threat, because then things like this wouldn't happen. His least favorite way to wake up; he can already tell it won't be the last time.]
Oi, Yasusada. Wake up already. [Not that being close isn't nice, just. That can't be comfortable. Move your arm.]
no subject
But really, Kashuu pinged just as much as 'safety' on Yasusada's threat meter, which was fortunate for Yasu-- and unfortunate for Kashuu. Yasusada had slept comfortably and deeply, a nice restful sleep he'd sorely needed after yesterday.
And he was loath to be robbed of it so quickly. He buries his face in the space between Kashuu's neck and the pillow, as if vaguely attempting to burrow away from whatever was waking him.]
Mhnnn..... Five more minutes, Kiyomitsu....
[Does. Does he even realize where he's sleeping right now, or is that an automatic response--
Probably the latter.]
no subject
And at least(?) Yasusada's face is there, so he can't see Kashuu's face start to burn at the contact. He's not a pillow, and he knows that it's not exactly like Yasusada usually sleeps curled up against something like this.]
Yasusada... [But the complaint comes out more weak than anything.
Why is this happening right now. Why is Yasusada just, responding like usual, when he has to wake him up, burrowing into the pillow included...]
no subject
He grumbles a little more, slowly rising into wakefulness in spite of all efforts to cling to otherwise.]
Kiyomitsuuuuuuu....
[Each syllable emphasized, ending in a pathetic sounding whine. Why did he always have to wake him up when he was this tired--]
no subject
As soon as he's able without disturbing Yasusada too much, he starts sitting up.]
Yasusadaaaaaaa. [Okay, now that the teasing is out of the way, a small smile rises to his face.]
Good morning? [How long until Yasusada realizes how he fell asleep...]
no subject
It was until you woke me...
[.....Wait a second, he was way closer than he usually would have--
....Oh. this was the wrong side of the room.]
Eh?
[That smile, the side of the room being wrong, the proximity--]
Did I....
no subject
Yep. You did.
[He reaches out a hand to gently tug on some of Yasusada's hair, and then he sighs.]
I still don't get how you make that mistake so often when you're tired. It's not like I switch where our beds are. [Maybe if he did, Yasusada would end up falling asleep in the empty bed...but it's not like this happens every time.]
no subject
And there was always teasing.]
I was really tired! All I thought about was finding a bed.
[As usual, his hair is a bit of a mess-- not only bedhead, but some day old knots left over from Yasu simply resorting to running fingers through his hair the night before. He really never did learn, did he?]
Besides, you didn't wake up and stop me. It's not all my fault.
[...That's not how it works, Yasu--]

Mm...making your way back here is good, yeah. [aka, at least yasusada didn't manage to fall into someone else's bed.
But, Kashuu uses the opportunity of the shared space to at least try and get some of those tangles out, even if it is just with his fingers at this moment. He can talk about using an actual brush later.
At least, until the next part of what Yasusada says registers.]
I-idiot. [He sure is turning red.] I was asleep, do you want me to stay up for you or something?
no subject
[Yasu what.
His hair is an unholy mess. As per usual. He grumbles a little at the fussing but after a moment of shifting about a little in protest he'll lean into Kashuu's fingers a little because, habit. And maybe Kashuu did do a good job at this sort of thing, finicky as he was.]
But that isn't the point! You'd wake up if you minded that much.

Of course he'd say something like that right now...
Kashuu twists his fingers in Yasusada's hair and pulls.]
You aren't the only one who was tired, you know, and you can't just say things like that. [But...he goes back to untangling Yasusada's hair, rubbing the part he'd pulled on gently first.]
no subject
[His tone comes out a pained whine, not that Kashuu was actually pulling that hard, but it was the principle! He makes a face, his expression easing a little when Kashuu relaxes his grip and starts to rub his scalp, soothing whatever discomfort he'd caused.]
Why not? If we both slept through the night, what's the problem?
[It's not like he woke Kashuu up in the middle of the night!!! That'd be really rude.]
no subject
They did both sleep through the night after all. Though...]
Is your arm okay? [A master of redirecting the conversation, it's Kashuu.
It's not like he's going to explain what his problem with Yasusada saying it'd be nice to see him before he goes to sleep is.]
no subject
It's so loud. ]

Gus somehow managed to find Kashuu on a long mission, so it's technically Kashuu's is the more serious answer. That doesn't involve Gus managing to find his way to the Citadel, or a non-existent bed.
Or a murder village bed.]
no subject
What is this.
What is Gus doing here, in her bed?
Clearly, he must have a better explanation for this turn of events than she does, so Kita's just going to delicately wake Gus up so he can explain himself, with a pillow to the head.] Oi!
no subject
When Kashuu mentions his arm though, he blinks, a puzzled look in blue eyes.]
Ah... it's just a little damage. Some bruising.
[So essentially, fine really by Yasu standards. Kashuu was warm though and that felt good against his injured arm, thus the artless sprawl.
Or maybe he just wanted to cuddle, but details.]The enemy led us on a wild goose chase yesterday.
[And Yasu had pretty much cut things to ribbons once they did catch up, because he'd been kind of tired and pissed off, ok.]
no subject
...besides, everyone's going to start making noise when it's time for breakfast. They can lie here for a while more.
Kashuu hums.]
You sure it's not bad? You could get it looked at. [Did he not dodge in time and end up falling or hitting something? Yasusada....]
Ah, it's annoying when they do that. [So many things that could have gone wrong before they found them, and so much running they didn't have to do if they'd just had gone to the right place first...
Maybe he can get a closer look and make sure for himself that Yasusada's arm is really fine.]

A full night's rest can be the difference between life and death.
[ ...And within seconds, he's snoring again. ]
no subject
He grumbles a little, though, when Kashuu reaches his arm.]
I'm fine... I'm just annoyed they got the drop on me like that.
[The bruise is kind of nasty, if Kashuu chooses to slip back Yasusada's sleeve. It looks more like Yasusada skidded along the ground, so there's a bit of a scrape over the purple tinge of the skin too. Better that than his head, but--]
.. One of them, uh.... ran me over.
[The words are muttered, hesitantly said. Run over. More like bowled over by an attempted escapee.]
no subject
"It's just a little damage". Of course Yasusada would say something like that about this. It's not even really like he's wrong entirely... ]
...you should be more careful. [But he can't just let his concern show like that really, the slight tension in his body at just the scrape and bruising showing more than his voice. He really doesn't want to think about being alone again.
So after a moment more of gently holding Yasusada's arm, one of his hands goes up to flick his partner's forehead, an all too familiar smile on his face.]
What would that person think, knowing you got run over by— [He can't say that. He can't bring up Okita like a shield like this.
...
Kashuu falls back down onto his bed next to Yasusada, one hand still loosely around his arm.]
...just try to be more careful.

[The fact that Gustave is apparently on the verge between life and death doesn't seem to move her at all. Kita's now switching from whapping him with a pillow to roughly shaking him by the shoulder.]
im not rolling for shit. i still don't have a computer but i promised threads so help me god
and so, enter what very well may be the fanciest room gus has ever been in—honestly this is ridiculous, there are like three different doors out of here and that does not count the big glass one that leads out to a balcony. who the hell needs this much space or this many entry points. it's dark out, but a little light filters in from outside, and more from a few small crystalline orbs flickering with fire inside scattered on different surfaces about the room. not only is this unnecessary and only dubiously safe, it's too light in here to even get comfortably to sleep? rich people and their shitty overdone aesthetics.
probably more relevant to gus's interests, though, is that on the other side of the bed (four posts and a canopy jfc) that the magical jamjar powers that be have dropped him into, all curled up in the blankets and snoring lightly, is his girlfriend, presently fast asleep—so that at least solves any potential concern over how all this got paid for, um.]
no subject
Still, it's way too fancy for him to sleep comfortably in, and more importantly, not the inn he fell asleep in, which only compounds his discomfort as he stirs awake. He sits up, eyes scouring the room for his belongings - having previously been in the cold Northern Isles, he's at least sleeping clothed today, but his sword, his armor, and even his ear are nowhere to be seen. ]
Shit, shit shit...
[ He doesn't notice the snoring at first, with Linde being on the side opposite his good ear, but when his cursory scan of the room brings his eyes toward that familiar head of long, brown hair, his distress gives way to curiosity. He couldn't possibly be that lucky, could he?
Well, may as well find out. He puts a hand on her shoulder, giving her an almost imperceptibly gentle nudge. ]
...Linde? Is that you?
no subject
But she knows that face, she realizes, half sat up with her hand on the bedside table behind her for balance as much as the tome in reach of her fingertips.]
Gustave?
[She needs another second to catch her breath before she shifts forward, hands in her lap, no less bewildered.]
How did—How long—Where...
[??????????????]
What... Ah, n-not that I'm not thrilled to see you, but—...What?
[she is NOT AWAKE ENOUGH FOR THIS]
no subject
Hey, your guess is as good as mine... where even are we?
[ He glances about the room at all of, y'know, this, scratching at the back of his head. How many gaslamps does one room even need? ]

[her bed, more specifically, even though she takes a second to look around and make sure she is, in fact, still in her own bedroom—but she didn't exactly have a follow up ready for Gustave having this little of an idea of what's going on (she didn't have anything ready for any of this) so excuse her continued complete bafflement. ]
no subject
[ Well. That does change things.
The thing is, though, that Gustave has never shared a bed with a woman without, y'know, sharing a bed with a woman. He certainly doesn't remember doing anything with Linde, but that's just going to make things a lot more uncomfortable if they did, and he doesn't remember it. ]
Um... did we...?
[ For once in his life, he hopes the answer is no. ]
no subject
Well, you certainly weren't here when I went to sle—Really?! [ah there it is
she lowers her voice real quickly, though, because it's gonna be a problem if anyone patrolling the palace halls hears her yelling.] Here you are with no idea how you ended up a world away and that's your first concern?
[is embarrassed anger better than utter confusion? well it's what we're dealing with now]
no subject
...Honestly, that part hadn't registered completely. I'm defaulting to experience here.
[ He's woken up in unfamiliar places before, after all. The part where this might be another world is only really hitting him now that she mentions it. ]
It's just that when I wake up in bed with a woman, it's always after... Um, well...
[ Gods, he has never had trouble talking about this subject before. Look what you've done to him, Linde. ]
no subject
Stop. I don't want to hear about it. I don't want to hear about any of this and this conversation is over.
[it is so much harder to sound authoritative when your whole face has gone bright red, huh
she huffs a little, and only manages to soften her flustered indignation a little when she says,] Well, this isn't ideal, but it's very nice to see you.
no subject
[ It's not that hard to sound authoritative when you're trying to authoritate someone almost as red as you are.
Of course, when she says that, he softens his own expression in kind. ]
Well, it's not Murder Village, and you're here with me, so, y'know... I'd say that's pretty ideal in my book.
sometimes. a person loses a notif. only god can judge me
Those are our standards, hm—At least no one's getting murdered.
[She laughs a little, too sleepy to be properly bitter, but her expression softens, then scrunches.]
Still... Not that I'm in any hurry to be rid of you, but I haven't got any idea how to get you back. [She wrings her hair in her hands in front of her.] And it's too late for me to at least let you see the palace... I'm sorry.
